paper arrival and new work

Monday 18/8/14

My paper and large lino squares have just arrived from Melbourne and I’m eager to get on with drawing and printing some new designs. The bigger lino is something new as I’ve always just worked in 15 x 15cm or 30 x30cm squares so lookout for something new, hopefully not too far away.

I’ve got my first market stall coming up at the end of August. It’s at the St Dympna’s School Fair in Aspley so for those that can …Come on down! Or come on up, depends where you are … it's North of Brisbane anyway. Have been printing and colouring lots of linocuts and still have to make up more cards. Packaging takes time too but I’m looking forward to this event.  Have also done some bright little canvases inspired by my new Queensland environment.

St Dympna’s School Fair

Sunday 31st August from 10.30am – 3.30pm

The Primary School, Robinson Road, Aspley

Steve’s made me a print stand and I think I’ll ask him to make another. Aside from brewing beer he’s managed to find his creative side and other than my stand he’s made a table and some chairs from old pallets and some of the drums that get used for the malt at the brewery. The Brewing Hub will also set up their first market stall too.

Today however I am about to go and post off my collagraphs- The Dog & Beach series. Art Images at Norwood in Adelaide have sold some more of my works so I’m working on topping up their stock. I recently sent them linocuts from the series “Lovers’ and “Home Sweet Home” so for those in SA you can always find my work there as well. www.artimagesgallery.com.au

The First Step

After living in Adelaide for almost my entire life moving to Brisbane was a sudden and unexpected change of plans. It's been 6 months now and it's been a very exciting and challenging time. Not that I was ever short of inspiration in Adelaide but as I find myself surrounded by a whole new world, the new inspiration is overwhelming and I can't get the ideas out quick enough. Meanwhile as I'm caught up in all of this having left the familiarity of home, family, friends and a network of people within an arts culture I have been an active part of for so many years, I find myself having to start all over again. Therefore I am excited to announce that my monoprint, " Greetings from Australia" was  accepted into The Inkmasters Print Exhibition in Cairns and 'my first step' into the arts culture of Queensland.
